Avoid the Christmas Ugly

The Christmas season is everyone favorite season,
but it also seems to be the busy with food to bake or cook,
items to buy and wrap,
places to be
and obligations to fulfill ..
So in a book that I am reading I found a very good " Checklist" for us woman to go by..
Its a Check List to keep the Uglies Away...
You know when that Christmas stocking hat looks nice but the woman under neath it looks a little worn out and maybe even a bit scary.. (#1) Am I overly tired?
Getting the proper amount of rest is not easy for busy women , however I realized that I am not doing anyone any favors if I sacrifce my rest. Not getting enough sleep weakens my defenses and heightens my emotions..
So make the proper amount of rest a priority .
(#2) Am I over committed?
Only you can honestly answer that question.
When we sign up to do something , if often sounds good but when the time arrives we can start to panic. Remember even signing up to bring a dish to a function, requires that you block out time on your schedule not only to cook, but also to shop for the items needed for the dish..
It is a nice thing to do, and we all love to be a part of these event,
but just remember the time it truly takes..
(#3) Have I compromised some of my healthy boundaries lately?
Opening your home to friends and family seems to be just a normal part of the Holiday Season.
But with that can sometimes come feelings of obligation and expectations.
House has to be cleaned (and stay clean),
food to cook
As simple as a BBQ event of hot dogs and bugers
can become Steaks and Seafood
Due to our own doings..
Enjoy your time with your family and friends
but be realistic in your expectations
and let your time be pleasurable and memoriable
(#4) Do I have things on my calendar to look forward to?
I can get through almost anything if I see I will recieve a reward for my hard work.
If I know I have a hectic week, I schedule myself something fun that I can look forward to and when all the work is over.
Date night with my hubby, meet a girlfriend at a coffee shop,
or getting a manicure..
Enjoy the Holiday Season
Make lots of Good Memories
And Avoid the Christmas Uglies...

Oh!!!! my Karen, Congratulations on your new grandson Mason, and just loved all of your family photos, all of them. What a wonderful Christmas present from our Lord to your family. May the Lord continue to richly bless your family.
I also enjoyed reading these truths today, thank you for the reminder. No need for me to ask how you are doing, as the photos tell it all.
Much love,
